TAC

Split Second Film Competition

Summary

Launched in 2018 by TABOO and TAC, Split Second Film Competition is an annual initiative that challenges young Victorians to submit a concept for a road safety film that doubles as the ‘turn your phone off’ message at the Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF). Each year, one winning script is given 50k funding, is produced by TABOO and a leading production house, AIRBAG – and aired in front of Australia’s film luminaries, before every MIFF screening.

The competition becomes bigger and more extravagant each year.

Re-imagined in 2020 due to Coronavirus and the cancellation of MIFF, we partnered with Village Cinemas and Logie-winning Australian actor, Firass Dirani, to bring this important message and creative opportunity to life.
